Enter the 2020 YAM Poster Design Contest!


Enter the 2020 Youth Art Month Poster Design Contest! 

Theme: Take a Journey Through Art


GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY:

  • Designs must be created by students of current AENJ members 
  • Designs must be submitted on 12” by 18” paper, horizontal format. 
  • Designs must include the YAM Theme (in bold lettering): TAKE A JOURNEY THROUGH ART 
  • DO NOT INCLUDE THE YAM LOGO IN THE DESIGN! 
  • Design must include the words: New Jersey or NJ 
  • Design must be a bold, 2-D, simple, flat-color design for reproduction. 
  • No more than three (3) entries per school. 
  • Designs must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on November 30, 2019 
  • ART TEACHERS: Please submit all information provided on the permission slip AND the design file (picture) online, using the Google Form: https://forms.gle/7FwNyzKpfgQV7HWC9

Celebrate Youth Art Month by participating in the YAM Design Contest! The Art Educators of New Jersey join other state art organizations to participate in the YAM Design Competition. 

NEW FOR 2020: SEVEN WINNING CATEGORIES!

Seven winning entries will be chosen and used to celebrate Youth Art Month in New Jersey. One winning entry will be replicated on the state YAM flag and flown during the 2020 NAEA Conference in Minneapolis. Other winning entries will be transformed into our state YAM poster, YAM button, YAM billboard, YAM t-shirt, and two YAM invitations. 

The seven winning entries will be displayed at the NJ State YAM Reception in Trenton on March 6, 2020. Winning entries will be requested to be mailed. Only winning students will receive t-shirts. 


Sargent Art would provide art supplies as student and teacher prizes. This year, Sargent Art will provide the following student and teacher prizes for each of the seven category winners: 

  • Winning students would receive art supplies worth $125 (retail value) and a certificate, and 
  • Winning teachers would receive art supplies worth $250 (retail value). 

Sargent Art will also send a Participation Gift to each school. In order to receive a participation gift, please have your school principal complete the 2020 YAM Participation Form and email it to Sargent Arts. This form will be e-mailed to you after we receive your submission.

Art in Education Week

Hudson County Youth Art Month Co-Chair, Martha Garcia, has been named the 2108-2019 Hudson County Teacher of the Year! Martha is an Art Teacher at Academy 1 School in Jersey City.  One of her goals is to bring awareness to Art Education. She would love to share what she does in the art room, and wants to encourage other art educators to continue to practice their artistic skills outside of the classroom.
